JAI's History

JAI's History: From Local Foundry to Global Expert

In 1945, JAI was founded in the city of Herning. Over the decades JAI has evolved from a small aluminium foundry to a global player in the aluminium gravity die casting industry. Prosseses such as development, prototypes, sand core production, casting, fettling, X-ray, heat treatment, machining, surface treatment, tightness test and assembly are all part of JAI’s capabilities.

In other words, JAI is a one-stop-shop partner and system supplier, who values accessible solutions for their customers. Today, JAI operates over 33.000 m² of production space and specializes in tilt and stationary gravity die casting of complex aluminum parts for well-known global companies. Located in Denmark, sustainability and social responsibility are at the heart of our culture.

1945

JAI was founded on September 1st.

1969

JAI receives its first export order.

A new foundry is built, and the capacity is expanded from 1,400 to 3,000 tons of cast aluminum.

2001

The export share increases to over 98%.

2002

A new highly automated machining factory is inaugurated.

2006

A management buyout is completed, and JAI is subsequently 100% owned by the management of JAI.

2010

The casting capacity is increased to 4,000 tons of cast aluminum.

2013

A new building and investment in highly automated core making with the capability to produce cores up to 150 kg each.

2016

A neighbouring property of 12,000 m² is acquired to secure future growth opportunities. JAI now has a total of 33.000 m² of production space.

2017

JAI strategically focuses on developing E-Mobility as a future segment and also secures its first order within this sector.

2018

The renovation and conversion of the new 12,000 m² production halls was started, and JAI's total production area amounts to 33,000 m². An investment is made in the first large CNC machine to increase capacity for machining parts up to 1.4 meters in size.

2019

Investment in one new large casting machine, combining tilt and stationary casting for parts up to 1.6 meters.
Investment in two new larger CNC machines capable of machining parts up to 1.4 meters in size.

2022-2023

Due to increasing demand from our partners we invested in an upgrade of 3 casting lines, 2 new robotic cells for fettling, 3 extra heat treamtment furnaces and 1 new fully automated robotic cell for machining
